A presentation by Dr. David S. Nolan

Dr. Nolan will begin with an introduction to the basic dynamics of hurricanes and how they work, and then discuss the broad range of hurricane-related research currently taking place at the University of Miami.

Forensic Entomology: Insects Tell A Story...
Join us as we explore the world of forensic entomology and the information that can be obtained from smart, crime-solving bugs! A presentation by Dr. Stuart E. Mitchell in the Museum Theater at 12:00PM and 4:00PM.

About Dr. Stuart E. Mitchell
Physician, certified medical investigator and holder of a Master of Science degree in public health and multiple PhDs in biology, zoology, and entomology, is the author of several training manuals and medical journal articles. A nationally recognized specialist in entomological issues, Dr. Mitchell also serves as an entomological consultant for government, business, and the healthcare industry. In addition, he is in frequent demand as a speaker and staff trainer in the areas of medical, vector control, and food safety.

Lizard Day
At Miami Science Museum’s annual “Lizard Day,” Guests will also be dared to sample wild cuisine, such as stir-fried mealworms, ant crisps and critter gelatin surprise prepared by Chef Kat Duran. Check out different species of lizards from around the world, including a rare visit from a Nile Crocodile.

Prizes will be awarded in the “Lizard Showcase” for categories such as “Best of Show,” “People’s Pick, “Junior Herpetologist” and “Largest All Around.” Also, come enjoy of our Arts & Crafts, Trivia Challenge, Lizard Face Painting and much more!

You don’t have any Pet Lizards? No Problem- come, learn and enjoy the variety of lizards on display, you just might fall in love with these scaly creatures!

**Two free admissions for each lizard entered in the competition. All protected species must be accompanied by permit. No venomous allowed. Lizards must be brought in an enclosed container or display cage.
